What is HHC?

..and why is it important?

HHC- Hexahydrocannabinol

Another hemp-derived compound to explore?! You know it!

You've probably heard of Delta-8 THC, which is a psychoactive molecular compound that you can synthesize from hemp. Since it's hemp derived, Delta-8 is legal federally legal to sell due to the 2018 Farm Bill.- and has exploded in popularity around the United States. Similarly, by now you've probably heard all about Delta 10 THC as well. But HHC is different.

HHC is found in cannabis and hemp in small amounts, so in order to manufacture usable quantities, it is synthesized from hemp. It gives effects very similar to those you would find in Delta-9 THC.

What is HHC?

Hexahydrocannabinol is a hemp derived compound . HHC can be extraced and chemically manufactured into HHC products. It is related to Delta 8, Delta 9, and Delta 10 THC, but really is in a category of it's own. It has effects that most closely mirror Delta 9 THC.

What Makes HHC Special?

HHC is said to have euphoric and relaxing effects. Chemically, it is basically the hydrogenated version of THC, so its effects are similar as well.

On the molecular level, HHC and THC are almost identical structurally. The main difference you might notice is an additional ester atom and carbon bond. Additionally, HHC has extra hydrogenated carbons. A benefit of the difference in structure is that HHC is actually more stable than THC, so it can withstand more heat and in general has a longer shelf life.

What are the effects of HHC?

We at DXHALE love HHC because out of all of the popular hemp derivatives on the market, HHC's effects are almost like a high powered Delta 8. As we have previously found, Delta-8 has relaxing indica-like effects, calms anxiety, and induces relaxation. HHC adds on to that with a nice touch of stimulation and altered mindset.

HHC is more potent than Delta 8 and Delta 10. Reports estimate HHC's strength at around 70-80% that of Delta 9 THC. If you're a fan of comparing Delta 8 vs Delta 10 vs other cannabinoids, this will for sure be an interesting one to try!

Is HHC Legal in the United States?

As of this writing, HHC is federally legal in the United States. Due to the farm bill, any hemp derived cannabinoid is legal as long as it contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC - which is the illicit THC found in marijuana. Therefore, as long as your HHC products contain less than the allowed amount of Delta-9, they are federally legal. Reputable HHC retailers will always provide a lab test showing that their products contain less than the legal threshold of Delta-9, so be sure to check those before making a purchase.

Some states have laws that conflict with the 2018 farm bill or explicitly outlaw HHC, so check your state laws to ensure that it's legal to consume and possess in your area.

Is HHC Safe to consume?

Just like using any hemp-derived products, it's imperative that you check for a Certificate of Analysis before using any HHC or hemp-derived product.

What type of HHC products are currently on the market?

HHC is still pretty rare to find in the cannabinoid market. Not many retailers have stocked HHC yet. But the ones that do have it in various forms, such as HHC Vapes, HHC gummies, and other sublingual options.

Our favorite way to consume HHC is by vaping it. DXHALE offers high-quality, lab tested HHC Disposables in these great flavors:
